Dive Leader

Introduction

Trainee must have achieved Club Diver certificate before training commences. A Dive Leader is someone who has had additional experience in both practical and theory and has proven their ability to lead divers underwater. They must have completed at least 15 additional dives in a variety of conditions, no more than two qualifying dives in one day and no more than two qualifying dives at any one site. Eight dives must be sea dives.

Practical Assessment

Must be carried out over a number of dives

Carry out open water dives demonstrating the following skills:

  1. 35 metre dive
  2. Carry out assisted ascent from 10 metres to 3 metres.
  3. Act as a dive leader on four occasions.
  4. Carry out a rope search.
  5. Demonstrate ability to recover an unconcious diver from 20 metres to 10 metres using a buoyant lift.
  6. Plot a simple navigation course taking into account the tidal stream.

Written Examination

The trainee must pass a written exam which must include air calculations to the satisfaction of the club diving officer.
